Flounders are mainly caught by a gill net during winter and more than 100 t of flounders are caught from January to the beginning of April. In the spring, a founder of about 1m is caught using a live squid as a bait. A flounder over 8kg is large and a cushion-like (zabuton in Japanese), which is called “Zabuton hirame (cushion flounder)”.
